SxSW Day 4

Opera Party

Today my panels were on how to defend your reputation in the online world, online communities, and how to Pimp a nonprofits website. I also stuck my head in a global warming panel just long enough to know I didn't belong there. They started off by stating the science was in and anyone who doubts "their" science has no intelligence.

Today's high points include:

  • Companies should embrace user feedback
  • Make sure there are enough good things on the web to drown out any bad things
  • When used properly, non-profits can mobilize their efforts and get a lot of money by using online social communities like twitter, facebook, myspace, etc...

Ed Schipul gave me a silly purple hat to wear during the day to help promote his non-profit panel, The silly hat was fun and I continued to wear it to the after parties. I was amazed at the number of people who where looking to meet people who would come talk to me just because of the hat. I tried to win a wii at the Opera party, but alas, my hat was no help.
